Tutorial : How To Unlock Idea Netsetter/ Huawei Modems Yourself!

Most of us must have seen and used as well as many own mobile internet devices like MTS Blaze, Idea Netsetter and BSNL EVDO. Of all of these solutions available, the data plans are very costly and a balance between charge and value for money is met at around 500Rs per month. So its not a feasible solution for most of us. However, if you can compromise on speed, but still get unlimited dataplans, then you can think of 2.5G or EDGE solutions. EDGE can give you 256Kbps connection speeds and 30-40KBps download speeds with the right connection, device and tower.

The solution for this internet requires to have a connecting device or a GPRS capable fone with PC connectivity. But Phones are too slow especially if you have an old one. So the best way to connect is by getting a USB modem for GSM. Idea's netsetter is the only one matching the criterion as its the only GSM mobile internet available. All the rest are either CDMA or 3G. So, I cant afford the 550Rs plan of Idea, for the slow internet they provide, what to do?? The solution is simple, use the same modem with another network. But then again a problem. Idea people have locked the device to idea networks only. So we unlock the device with some tools and use whatever we like in it. You can also unlock other Huawei 3g modems using this procedure.

I have seen lots of scams on the internet claiming to unlock their devices for rates starting from 100Rs to 500Rs. But here at Techonauts, you can unlock it for free!! Just download the attached tools and follow the procedure. This is not for Idea netsetter alone, but for the whole of the Huawei modem fleet which is locked down. List of supported devices at the end of article.

1. Download The Unlock Code calculator.
2. Download the Huawei Unlocker.
3. Run The Unlock code calculator
4. Beneath your Huawei device, the imei number will be shown, type it in exactly into the code calculator and hit 'Calc'. Copy it.
5. Plug in your device with the sim removed. Wait for a few minutes for the device to install and show itself to windows properly. Do NOT run the Netsetter software. If It is running in the tray, please exit it or you will get only errors.
6. Once the device has been recognized properly, Run the unlocker. Make sure it gives no port opening failed error message when opening. If so, uninstall the netsetter software from control panel and try again.
7. Make sure it displays your device imei automatically and then paste the unlock code in it and hit ok. It will start to unlock and and when successful will notify you.
8. Now remove the device and put in your own sim which must be GPRS enabled or having an active data plan.
9. Configure settings with the accesspoint in APN as static from options and connect.
10. Enjoy high speed internet with your choice of plans!!

Optional:-
Some people like to remove the Idea Netsetter software and replace it with something more standard. This is a little difficult as the software is flashed on the device itself as a CD ROM image. However you can replace that also with Huawei Dashboard software known as Mobile Partner provided as default by the company. FOr that, Download this Update and run it after exiting Idea net setter in tray as well as diconnecting anything that might be using the device. Also make sure power wont fail or your device will be fried!! The added advantage with this software upgrade is that you get the USSD function in options which allows to check balance and GPRS plan details like *123# or *111# which is otherwise not possible on the default Netsetter software. Now the only thing which reminds you of netseter would be the sticker on the device itself. Do I need to tell how to remove that too??
