Download Ultrasn0w 1.2 unlock for iOS 4.2.1

As promised,  the iPhone Dev team today released an unlock tool for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S on iOS 4.2.1. The Ultrasn0w 1.2 unlock for iPhone 3G and 3G S is made possible though PwnageTool 4.1.3 for Mac and Redsn0w 0.9.6 b4 jailbreak tool released in the last week. This unlock works on iPhone 3G and 3G S models with baseband 05.14.02, 05.15.04 and higher. Here we use iPad iOS version 3.2.2 to upgrade the baseband of the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S to 06.15.00. This is done by a custom IPSW file generated using the  PwnageTool 4.1.3. The step by step guide to unlock iOS 4.2.1 using Ultrasn0w 1.2 is given below.

Unlock iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.2.1 with PwnageTool 4.1.3 and Ultrasn0w 1.2:

Before unlocking, we need to jailbreak iPhone 3G or 3G S using the latest Redsn0w 0.9.6 b4.

After that download iOS 3.2.2 for iPad and PwnageTool 4.1.3.

Here you will build a custom IPSW file using iOS 3.2.2 for iPad, and use that to upgrade the baseband of  iPhone 3G and 3G S to 06.15.00.  So that the iPhone will work with Ultrasn0w 1.2.

Now run PwnageTool 4.1.3 in expert mode. Select your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S from the list. Each time click on the big blue button to continue to the next page.

You will be asked to select the location of  iPad OS 3.2.2 in the next step. Follow the instruction as given in application interface.  And in between you will reach  PwnageTool 4.1.3 options page, where you can customize the output IPSW file.

Select general settings- and in that section, click on activate the phone ( for carrier locked devices) and upgrade baseband.

You may add pre-jailbroken apps in the next section,  Cydia package. Download the required packages and continue.

Make sure that you tick Cydia installer in the next page, custom packages.

Then build the IPSW file and save it your Mac.

After this put your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S in the DFU mode. And restore the custom IPSW file using iTunes.  Now you have upgraded the baseband.

Download Ultrasn0w 1.2  for unlock

Open Cydia from your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S Springboard.

Now go to Manage and the Sources.

Here  edit the Source URL as  http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com and save the settings.

Go back to the sources section and search for Ultrasn0w 1.2.  Install the tool and wait for the process to complete.

Currently this process can only be done on a Mac using PwnageTool 4.1.3. You will be able to unlock your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S in Windows using a Redsn0w version that is excepted to available soon.
